Taso - a large breed, mature male and Pirate a four-month-old small breed pup formed an unlikely friendship while at the shelter; hanging out and playing together. Taso patiently laying on the ground while Pirate bounded back and forth over him or raced in circles around him. Other times you'd catch both of them standing up and playing tug with a stuffy toy . . . . the pair were almost inseparable. They have now been separated, but for a good reason, they have both found new homes. Pirate a few days ago and Taso yesterday.
Found wandering the streets of Sechelt, Pirate was brought to us as a stray. With no one looking for him. But, after listing Pirate as Found in the local paper someone did contact the shelter saying that Pirate had been their pup but that they could not look after him. So Pirate was neutered and placed for adoption to find a new home.
A cutie alright, with his cheeky personality and small size it's hard not to fall in love with Pirate. But, Pirate also packs a LOT of energy in his tiny body and is ready to play and run all day long. Energetic, Pirate is no couch potato and can go go go for a very long time before finally wearing out. Requiring further house training, obedience training and everything a young pup needs to grow into a well-adjusted adult, Pirate is an outgoing and confident pup who enjoys playing with toys, balls and other dogs and as we thought, did not wait too long for a home. Pirate has now left the building, and is either keeping his new guardian on their toes and very busy or flaked out and snoozing after a busy day.
A cheerful dog, Taso enjoys hanging with people and truly is a happy fellow who "talks" when excited, enjoys heading out for short walks, belly rubs and playing with squeaky toys; a bit stiff at times (though Mobility kibble helps combat this) Taso also enjoys a play session with another dog and is especially tolerant of pups (i.e Pirate) but is also good with senior small breed dogs, actually just about any other dog. Someone recently spotted Taso on line and contact the shelter, inquiring about him. After submitting an application and talking to shelter employees she caught the ferry over from Horseshoe Bay to come and meet Taso . . . who is now living on the lower mainland :-)
Below are a couple of videos of Taso and Pirate playing together . . . .
